Last weekend, my brother and I took four teenage girls rock climbing and rappelling. A great way to build someone’s confidence, as long as it is safe and there is no pressure. After a few hours of climbing, to cool down we took turns jumping off a rock ledge into the river. The ledge is about 40 or 50 feet high. You don’t hit terminal velocity, but it is a rush after the controlled feeling of rappelling.
When I jumped, I felt my ear pop when I hit the water. I also felt pain, and I couldn’t catch my breath. I was disoriented for a minute. I didn’t jump again because I was afraid I had perforated my ear drum. My ear way uncomfortable and a little sore the rest of the day. That night at home, I did a tone meditation with ear plugs. My earplug was covered in blood, but afterwards the pain had mostly vanished.
The next day I went to the clinic, but the doctor could not find any sign of my injury and was at a loss to explain why my ear had been bleeding.
Not sure whether I healed myself or not.
What I am interested in is the difference between healing acute illness (like a cold, the flu, a burn or a cut) and chronic disease (like MS, chronic back pain or arthritis). And how does someone who is in constant pain, alleviate the pain enough to meditate or to heal themselves?
I think that chronic illness creates patterns in our cells and in our energy field that is harder to heal than a trauma. But how does someone find the right combination of healers, doctors, nutritionists, chiropractors, massage therapists, etc. to treat the problem without getting frustrated, running of money, etc.?
